Organized in France in 1918 during World War I, V Corps — the 'Victory Corps' — fought at St. Mihiel and in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, took part in the D-Day landings, and spent the Cold War headquartered in Germany. After being inactivated in 2013, it was reactivated at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 2020 to serve as the Army's fourth corps headquarters, with a forward command element in Poland. It is a major subordinate command of U.S. Army Forces Command.
