The 4th Psychological Operations Group was constituted on 7 November 1967 and first activated in Vietnam on 1 December 1967; after a brief inactivation it was reestablished at Fort Bragg in 1972. It is one of two active-duty Army PSYOP groups and the older of the pair, with regionally aligned battalions supporting the geographic combatant commands. The group operates under the 1st Special Forces Command within USASOC.
