The 95th Civil Affairs Brigade was authorized as a provisional unit on 16 March 2006 following the 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review and moved to active status in 2007, making it the Army's only active-duty Civil Affairs brigade dedicated to special operations. Organized into regionally aligned battalions, its soldiers assess and engage local populations to support U.S. forces and combatant-command objectives. It operates under the 1st Special Forces Command within USASOC.
