I Corps

I Corps

First organized in France in 1918 during World War I, I Corps — 'America's First Corps' — fought in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and served in the Pacific in World War II and in Korea. Reactivated and based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, it is now the Army's corps headquarters focused on the Indo-Pacific region. It is a major subordinate command of U.S. Army Forces Command.
