U.S. 4th Fleet

United States Fourth Fleet

The U.S. Fourth Fleet directs naval forces in the Caribbean and the waters surrounding Central and South America. First established in 1943 to guard South Atlantic shipping lanes during World War II, it was deactivated afterward and reestablished in 2008. It is headquartered at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, and is co-located with and commanded by U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command.
