United States Second Fleet

The U.S. Second Fleet directs naval operations across the North Atlantic and Arctic. Originally created in 1950 during the Cold War, it was disestablished in 2011 and then reestablished in 2018 in response to renewed Russian naval activity. It is headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, under U.S. Fleet Forces Command, and shares its commander with NATO's Joint Force Command Norfolk.
